From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Planners tables.
Audiences can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
